“David Duck Barraclough introduced me to the recorded song poems of the Scot Ivor Cutler and the novels of Franz Kafka while touring with Mental As Anything for ten years.  This is the sensible way into the mind of Duck. His worldview contrasts cynicism with romance; pessimism with optimism; tinkling piano with heavy guitar; Milton, Wordsworth, Coleridge et al with Charles Bukowski and he has a total disappointment with and an unblinking love of sport. I'm not altogether sure he is of this time but his personal philosophy makes for a singular and entertaining view of the mess we find ourselves in today”.
